Hello and welcome to this episode of Wealth Consciousness. I'm always super excited to get to be in your ear. So today's topic that we're going to talk about is blind spots, and it's a continuation of our series on blind spots. But as always, we always start with some type of relaxation technique or take a breath just to bring your attention to this present moment. But I also want us to sort of understand that the reason why we do breath work or a little visualization is because the idea is to return to our center, to your knowingness, to your inner wisdom. And that stress constricts our breathing, our blood flow, our ability to concentrate. And so all of these constrictions actually then show up in our business. They show up in our relationships, they show up in our spiritual connection, they show up in our health.
And so what we want to do is look at the idea that when we can calm ourselves, when we can find our center, that we can also create that kind of mindfulness that even really traditional health models are looking at right now. The idea that we need to reduce our stress in our daily lives that we live in fast paced lives, and especially those of you who are business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, always moving at light speed. We need to take a breath. So today, take a moment, put all your distractions away and breathe with me. We're going to use a really simple method. You've probably all done it before, but we're going to do the box breathing method, and we're going to do it in count four. So here's how it works. Go ahead and put everything out of your way that distracts you, your computer, your phone if you have the ability to sit still and actually close your eyes even better.
So what we're going to do in box breathing is we're going to do it in counts of four. So in other words, it works like this. We're going to breathe into the count of four. We're going to hold to the count of four. Then we're going to release to the count of four. Hold for the count of four before we inhale again. And so perhaps to quiet your mind, you can visualize that box that we can see in our minds as we do the box breathing. So go ahead and get started with me breathing into the count of four.
Hold for four release or exhale in four, and then hold for four before inhaling again. So go ahead and take in an nice deep breath to the count of four. Hold for four counts. Exhale your breath out through the mouth in four. The tough part is to then hold that exhale at four before breathing in again to the count of four. Now, for those of you who find this relaxing and helps you sort of turn off your mind, feel free to put me on pause and continue to box. Breathe, for those of you that are ready to jump back in, return yourself to your natural rhythm of breathing. Perhaps you have noticed that your body's relaxed a little bit, perhaps visualizing that box allows your mind to be a little bit more quiet.
But now bringing yourself to your natural rhythm of breathing, opening your eyes to this present moment and giving your attention to this content today so that you'll take some inspiration for yourself for the time that you're spending here, that you'll take some inspiration for yourself that you can go ahead and use in your next breath. In other words, in your next plan of action, in your day, in your business, in your relationships. And so allow yourself now to pay attention. In other words, you don't have to find something that's distracting. You don't have to do something while you listen to this podcast. But if you could bring all your attention to the idea today of blind spots, and I sort of GetGo when I talk about blind spots with our members, because many of our members, the super smart ones, overachievers, the A students would argue they don't have blind spots.
But in this series, we're identifying all the places that all of us, just in our human nature, in our humanness have blind spots. And so the reason why we're going to address that today is I'm going to help you to find your way out of it as well. Now, over the years working with clients and their businesses, I have found that it's sort of my superpower. It's my superpower. As I listen to someone explain an issue in the scaling of their business or an issue or an obstacle that's coming up in their business, I can hear in their thought model, in other words, how they think about it, why they're getting the result they're getting. It's become really sort of a fine tuned skill over the years. And so I can quickly get to where the blind spot resides and how it's showing up in your business.
And so I want to offer that to you today. I want to offer you my insight, my years of experience, so that you can go ahead and take it into your own business today. So one of the things that comes up really often, as I mentioned, is that it's tough for us to see our own blind spots. And so the situation that has come up a lot for me in our business is that many times people come into a strategy session talking about joining our membership. And basically what the message that they're giving me in this conversation is, can you show me how to do it my way? Now, think about that. Can you show me how to do it, Susan? But show it to me my way. My answer is no. But really what I want us to get to is that many of us work from that perspective, right?
The same behavior over and over and over. And maybe we even decide that when we plan goals that we'll just do more of it. How about volume? Maybe volume will help. Or maybe if when we're planning our goals, if we really buckle down and we make it harder and we become more disciplined, maybe that's how we'll meet those goals. I'm here to say probably not actually, not sustainably, at least what we want to look at is the idea that your way, although super smart and probably very successful, is not going to get you to the next level because your thinking is getting you the result that you're currently getting today. So in other words, to get to the next level, we're going to have to have different thinking. And so we talk in our programs about the idea of Groundhog Day, how the same issues pop up in our experience, whether that's in our business or our health or in our personal relationships, how the same obstacles pop up over and over and over.
And there are some really interesting statistics about how in marriages and business partnerships that people argue over the same three topics throughout the duration of the relationship. And so what we want to look at today is how do we figure out how to get out of that? How do we figure out where our blind spot is? And so this idea of show me how to do it, Susan, but do it my way, is the thinking that gets us Groundhog Day because we have to change the experience. We have to change the experience in our emotional self, what we're really kind of tied into in that experience. And once we change that, we literally create new neural pathways. And then when we create those new neural pathways and we create new experiences for ourself, then we are able to let go the limiting beliefs, the emotions, the stories we tell ourselves that have kept us in this blind spot.
Now, for many of you, that territory is still a super successful ground. Your businesses are still making money, perhaps making money incrementally even. But this is not the way that we're going to add the zero. So what I want us to look at today is that this idea that we have sort of a conditioned self, that conditioned self has been messaged since the day you got here. It's been messaged, especially between about zero and seven, we're highly impacted as humans to kind of figure out how to game life. So we're impacted by our caretakers, by our environment, and by our interpretations of that environment. And how we know that to be true is that if we look at a family that has maybe three or four kids, let's just say that each one of those kids probably have a different experience of how the family worked when they were growing up.
Check in with your siblings and see if your stories are a little bit different because our interpretations are different. But really what it all sort of distills down to is our conditioned self is working from safety and security, and that is the same as Maslow's hierarchy of needs. That very bottom of the pyramid is safety and security. And so all of us are behaving in our best interest of our safety and security. But the interesting thing is that our environments have changed. Now, we're no longer powerless to our caretakers. We're no longer in a family system where someone else has to provide the food, the income, the safety of a home. So now we have to look at in what ways am I keeping that same thinking in place by saying, show me how to do this. Teach me how to do this, Susan, but do it my way.
Really what becomes very evident is that that same type of thinking rooted in safety and security is what shows up in our businesses. That's what makes taking our business to the next level difficult. Because again, we need different thinking to come to a new level. We can't use the same thinking that got us here is not the thinking that will get us to the next level. And so what we want to look at is this idea that it is our blind spot that is keeping us at incremental growth. And that when we get past our blind spots, when we get out of our condition self and we start to create new experiences and new neural pathways, that's the very thing that will start showing up in your business as business growth if that's your intention, right? We always need to understand what's the end state?
What is the end game supposed to look like? And then we have to sort of unwire all that neural pathway wiring that keeps us in this safety and security spot that keeps us in our condition self. And so what I want to offer to you today is to find where your blind spot is, will be exactly the same place where you find yourself doing the same activity over and over and over. That is not impacting exponential growth in your business. So the question that you might want to ask yourself is, is this the highest version of your best version of yourself? Is this the highest version of your best vision of yourself? Forgive me, there's a reason why I needed to repeat that. Is this the highest version of your best vision of yourself? That's the question. And if the question bothers you at all and you think, oh my gosh, maybe not.
Where we want to look for our blind spots is in that behavior that we keep creating over and over and over and over, that's getting us the same result. And so the way to move ourselves out of that conditioned self is to start to shift the thinking patterns and those thinking patterns just in small, fine tuned shifts start to create new results quickly. Now, in our organization, we highly value quick wins. Why? Because quick wins are what make human nature move on. We like to get that quick hit. So quick wins come from the idea that when we shift something small in our thinking, then we create big change in our environment and in our businesses. So I would love to hear your thoughts on this. It certainly is a conversation, blind spots that can open up a whole new world of possibilities. So I would love to hear your thoughts on this touch base dm.
