Hello and welcome to this episode of Wealth Consciousness. As always, I'm super excited to be with you here today. So take a moment to put everything aside and see if you can gain something from this podcast that you can actually implement in your life in your next breath. Now, as always, we start these podcasts off with something that's going to naturally raise your dopamine, your serotonin, your oxytocin, all of those thriving chemicals. So usually we start with something like relaxation, and so sometimes we do a little breath work even. But today I'd like to remind you that we can create these thriving chemicals with yes relaxation, but with mindfulness, with breath work, with guided meditation. And today we're going to use a waking meditation to bring awareness to gratitude. Now, gratitude is one of those emotions that creates all the happy chemicals. So we're going to start off today if you would join me and playing this little game. And that is I'd like for you to list in your mind or on a piece of paper what is working right now.
So if you struggle with that even for a moment, I want you to notice that even your next breath is working. So notice what's working around you. Perhaps you're at a desk and your computer is actually working today, or perhaps you're looking at reports for your business and noticing the things that are actually working. Now we have a habit. As humans, it's in our nature to usually focus on what's not working. And we do that because the brain is set up to keep us safe. And so it's a natural human habit to look for what's not working because we are in the habit of remaining safe. And so that's okay, but when we bring our awareness to it, we can actually move past just needing to be safe. So again, I'd like for you right now to come up with 10 things in your relationships, in your health, in your spiritual connection, in your finances or your impact in the world. And I'd like you to make a list of 10 things that you notice are working, something that's working for you today in your communication style with your coworkers or your team, or perhaps something that someone else said that reminded you. Wow, that's working. This is good.
So as you make that list, I'd like for you to notice what feeling that evokes for you in your body, and perhaps you'll even notice where you hold it. Now, many times gratitude is held in the heart. So you might check there first, but I'd like you to see if not only can you list 10 things that are working that you're grateful for, but that you would also notice if you could turn up the volume of your gratitude to a number 10. So as you make your list or as you just bring your awareness to the idea that you're going to notice what's working, I want you to notice how that changes your chemistry.
And then as I mentioned, if you'll try to imagine that you could pay attention to your awareness and then turn up the volume on your awareness to attend. That's of good stuff. So today I want to talk about this idea that real change is dependent on getting to the root cause of what creates our obstacles. So a lot of high achievers come into our programs and they share with me that they've tried all the things, they've read the books, they've done the programs, they've gone to the convention centers, they've gone to big networking meetings, they've gone to the Masterminds and they've done all the things. And yet what they notice is some of the same main struggles don't seem to change. And so today, I want you to know that I'm one of those people who always needs to skip ahead. So I want to let you know that the end result is yes, we can create sustainable change, but only if we get to the root cause.
And so many times, as I mentioned, people come into our programs and they say, what is it that I have to do to change this issue in my business or in my life or in my relationships? What is it I have to do? I keep seeming to have this one come up for me, for me. And so the thing that I want to offer to you is that you're not crazy if you feel like you've tried all the things, because I want to let you know that repetition, although helpful in building a muscle is not going to do it. It's not going to create sustainable change. And reading, reading is so good, it's so good for you at every level, and it allows us to continue to build good insight and perspective. But I want to challenge you to remember what you just read.
And then when we look at this idea that we get information from books or from events or from experiences, and we have inspiration, inspiration is also fleeting. It's not sustainable. We can't remember what we read last week and we can't remember how to find that dopamine hit again of inspiration. And so I want to offer to you to sort of think this through. How many things have you tried and how many things do you feel like have created real sustainable change for yourself? What I find in the body of my work is that we have to get to the root cause. We actually have to unhook that neural pathway that creates that behavior that creates Groundhog Day. And so I want to offer to you today three things that can help create sustainable real change. So here we go. Number one, we have to identify our blocks, not in kind of a global way. Do you procrastinate? That's sort of global. Instead, we have to get those specific blocks. We have to identify the specific blocks, places where we get stuck, and you'll find it in your habits and patterns. And then we get to the root cause.
And when we get to that root cause, we also get to the understanding that it's an inside job. It's an inside job to create change. It's actually not a cognitive issue. It actually is more a heart mind issue. So first we have to identify the blocks and get to the root cause. And from there have the understanding that real change is an inside job. It's not the market, it's not the interest rates, it's not your team, it's not your business partner, it's not your spouse, and it's not the political climate. It is an inside job to identify our blocks and then get to the root cause. So what does that give us? Then? Number two, we need to bring our awareness to that root cause because as I know I've said so many times before, the obstacle is the way.
So really what that means is we have to bring the unconscious to the conscious mind, and that's the way we move through that obstacle. And then number three, we have to come to an awareness that we know exactly who we are or core principles, our gifts and talents, what we came here to do in this world, in this lifetime. So not only do we have to know who we're, but we also have to know what we want. Now, I talk to hundreds of people on a regular basis about this very question, what do you want? And no matter how successful, I find that most people still don't know what they want. And so especially in this group of uber high achievers that come into our programs, I notice that the really, really difficult question that is tough for most people to answer is, what do you want?
And so taking some time to really think about that. And again, not from a global perspective, I want to make more money. I want to have more freedom. Those are all interesting descriptions. But we have to really get down to again, move into the heart mind and say, what is it I really want? What is it that I came here to do? And then when that's super clear, when we know exactly who we are, our gifts and talents and exactly what we want, then we can build the pathway. So I would love to offer to you that these three things, identifying the blocks, getting to the root cause, bringing your awareness to that root cause. In other words, bringing the unconscious to the conscious mind and then knowing who you are and what you want, that can be sort of a tough prescription.
